Application of SB-ZePoC in Power Electronics

Led by:  Prof. Dr.-Ing. Axel Mertens

Funding:  DFG

Within the scope of this project funded by DFG, it shall be investigated, if the control method developed for class D amplifiers is suitable for application in the field of power electronics. The method has been developed at the Institute of Electromagnetic Theory of the Leibniz Universität Hannover. The novel feature of  this method called  „Separated Baseband Zero Position Coding (SB-ZePoC)" implies that due to modulation, there occurs no noise in the baseband, provided that the switching instants are calculated and realised with sufficient accuracy. These properties are also interesting for power electronic control elements in the field of electrical power engineering and electric drives, especially  for low clock rates or when using L-C filters. Aim of this project is to transfer the novel modulation method to three-phase power electronic systems and examine its potential benefit for different applications.
