Energy Technology

The "Energy Technology" lab (ETL) is compulsory for all power engineering students. The lab consists of eight experiments organized by the different disciplines in power engineering. Aim is to provide students with an overview of the diverse practical demands which occur in the wide range of power engineering topics.

Below the list of experiments taking place at the following institutes:

Institute for Drive Systems and Power Electronics:

  • Synchronous generator with cylindrical rotor
  • AC power controller

Institute of Dynamics and Vibration Research:

  • Experimental vibration analysis

Institute of Electrotechnology:

  • Induction heating

Institute of Electric Power Systems:

  • Electric transmission systems

Institute for Technical Combustion:

  • Experimental investigations on a direct-injection diesel engine with turbocharger

Institute of Thermodynamics:

  • Fuel cell

Institute of Turbomachinery and Fluid Dynamics:

  • Experiment on an aero-acoustic wind tunnel

The laboratory starts in winter term 2013/14 and is coordinated by IAL.
