Losses in three-phase inverters consist of switching losses and forward power losses occuring in the semiconductor elements. They depend on the semiconductor parameters and on performance characteristics like switching frequency, modulation index, DC link voltage and modulation type and are decisive for an adequate converter design. Inverter losses are determined by means of analytic calculation methods or system level simulations.
