On February 25, 2026, 14 students and 3 research assistants went on an excursion to VEM in Wernigerode. The aim of the event was to get to know the company better and gain a comprehensive insight into the production of electrical machines.
After the welcome, the participants were given an informative presentation providing an overview of the company, its development, and selected projects. The presentation covered both the technical focus areas and the diverse applications of electric machines. It provided a clear picture of the importance of innovative drive solutions in various branches of industry.
This was followed by a tour of the production areas and the test facility. This provided valuable insights into the manufacturing process for electrical machines. Starting with the production of the stator and rotor and continuing through to the insertion and casting of the windings, the individual work steps were explained. It became particularly clear what extensive tests the machines have to undergo before they can finally be delivered to the end customer.
